What is a Garden to you?

Many of us have seen beautiful gardens in magazines and travel brochures and wish we could have someone put such a garden near us but that is not possible. But we can make our surroundings just as beautiful if we are willing to take the time, effort and expense to learn to do it ourselves. Our purpose is to help you learn how.

This is my backyard. We planted the mulberry tree over 30 years ago and it gives us the dense shade we need in our hot climate. Many people wonder that we can have such lush growth in New Mexico. But it is possible. The tree on the left is a Gala apple, and the background plants are grapes which are very happy here. Is this something you might want or do you think of a formal array of specimen plants? What ever you dream of it may be possible for you to plan and plant. Start working on it now and make your dream garden come true.

Use the following spaces to list what you want your garden to be. Use the checklist to name some of your wants and add as many other things as you can bring to mind. List all the things you want in your garden.
Such as plants, soil, water source, design, flowers, vegetables, fruit, grass, food, color, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look over your list and evaluate what you already have. Underline those items.
Next: Some of those items are clearly unattainable. What are the limiting factors? size, exposure, soil, existing plants, time, water, etc. Cross off all the items in your list that you clearly can NOT have. The items remaining  are those that you want to learn about.

Go to the site map and compare that with the unchecked items on your list. If there is anything that you do not find a page or pages covering that subject, let me know. I will either tell you where you can find it on the site or find some pages elsewhere to add to this web site. We will cover all items in separate modules, units, sections, or chapters. Please send the webmaster your items that are not yet included emailto:druth1@aol.com?subject=I have a problem
