Soil Testing Service
Soil testing was done by the Master
Gardeners at the Garden Center and records were kept of those tests. The
following chart lists the soil test readings from 2/27/95 to 8/24/95. These
records are representative of the readings over the almost 20 year period that
testing was done and are included here to demonstrate the fact that most of our
soils are alkaline, we rarely need potassium and phosphorus and the soils are
low in organic matter unless large amounts of amendments have been added.
Optimum readings for good soil nutrition are N
=27 to 100. P=40 to 100. K=54 to 150 or higher. % Organic Matter=2.0 or higher.

Prepared from data files compiled by
Ruth Bronson, Lifetime Master Gardener, Master Composter. October 27, 1995
Note: Maximum readings for potassium with our equipment
without interpolation of test results is 1200. Maximum reading for phosphorus is
200. Soil test that show na indicate that that test was not requested and was
not done.
